It seems photographer Seth Casteel had enough of both and managed to capture these stunning photos of dogs under water. These dogs just happened to dive under to fetch the ball and swim. However, underwater currents combined with a high speed camera was able to transform otherwise normal pictures of dogs into wild aquatic animals with huge canine jaws. One of these images even look like a dinosaur.

His German Shepherd, named Captain, ran from home on the same day and managed to find his masters grave. Since then, he has been living  by the side of  Mr. Guzman’s grave  and has rarely ever left the spot at the cemetery. The Guzman family has tried sereval times to bring Captain back home but everytime he manages to come back to the grave. The cemetery staff has taken charge of feeding and taking caring of the grieving dog.

The amount of time wasted: dumb. The pleasure your dog gets out of it: none. Your reason for teaching them: for you to show off. The tricks themselves? Hella dumb. For example:

Shake My Hand

The idea behind this is to make the dog appear* human, by doing a human greeting that means absolutely nada to the dog. Raise your paw, lower your paw, watch the silly human buggers clap. Yawn. It’d be much more interesting for your dog to teach you how to sniff butts as a greeting, and it makes more sense.

Beg For Food

The same people that step over homeless people asking for: food, money or work are the self-same satisfied jerks that think their doggie begging for a treat is a neat party trick. You frown on people doing it, but it’s cuddly when Bowser begs for a wee bone?

Sit, Ubu, Sit. Good dog.

You can split hairs with me all you want, and yes- there’s a time and a place for your puppy to stay planted. What is the point, however, in making your dog: stand. Sit. Stand. Sit. Stay.-? It’s like being in a Catholic church service, without the cool background tunes.

Give Us a Kiss, Boy

This treads that whole ‘bestiality’ fence a bit close, don’t you think? Talk about mixed messages. You can’t shag your mutt, but you want them to kiss you and any other person you fancy they should. I hope you do realize that they aren’t actually ‘kissing’ you. They are licking the salts and oils with their doggie poo ingesting wet tongue. Mwah.

Treat For a Trick

If you’ve seen the film ‘Saw,’ then you know what dilemma dogs face with this trick. They’re damned if they do (Do it again, fella! Do it again!) and damned if they don’t- the treat being scooped up and plopped back on their nose. Reverse the situation. You’re hungry. You get a pea placed on your nose, that you can’t eat unless you flip it into your mouth. In front of a laughing crowd. Nice trick.

Playing Dead/Wounded/Whatever

Let me get this straight: you teach your dog to pretend that it’s dead. That’s the trick*. Am I missing something here? Is there a secret society of dog owners that uses it for code amongst themselves? Or is this as ridiculous as I think? You buy a perfectly healthy, active dog and then spend hours with it making it appear wounded or dead. Yep, that makes not one little iota of sense. Couldn’t be more brainless.

Competing in Extreme Doggie Sports

So you’ve advanced both your and your dog’s skill to bigger and better tricks. What can we do with our beloved canine…I don’t do extreme sports, but I’ve always wanted to…aha. Dog surfing competitions, dogs jumping through rings (on fire or not) and dog cliff diving are not things that come naturally to your pooch. Nor should they. And triple shame on you for making them.

 

Dog owners, alright, your dog is smart. It can learn. Whoopty doo. Have you any idea how painfully boring it is when you whip out such a tired trick, or put your dog in danger for a giggle? You know who looks stupidest with these really stupid dog tricks? Hint: not the dog.
